Join us one hour prior to the curtain of our World Music & Dance and Wednesday Musical Theatrer Series performances, and enjoy our lively and popular ORDWAY EXTRAS. These lecture demonstrations are led by arts and cultural experts and practitioners. Here, patrons are encouraged to ask questions and are able to gain a bit of insight and knowledge about our Twin Cities arts scene and visiting performers. Held in the spacious and comfortable Marzitelli Foyer, these captivating exchanges provide a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of a great performance!
Free admission for those who purchase tickets to the evening’s performance.
Ordway Pre-Show Extras
Prior to all Wednesday night Musical Theater Series performances, join us for a behind-the-scenes look into the issues that intersect with the production’s social relevance. These 30 minute “happenings” may delve into a show’s historical background and significance; let you in on some of the technical wizardry that makes our productions so spectacular; explore a show's social issues and themes; or all of the above. You may experience a mini-concert, discussion, or lecture, and you will certainly gain an enhanced Ordway experience!
Prior to each World Music & Dance Series performance, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about that evening’s performance genre(s) and topics through lecture, dialogue, and demonstration of a particular art form. The Ordway Extra presenters are primarily Twin Cities-based and have expertise on the evening’s topics, connecting the touring performance to the local art scene. The intention of the Extra is not only to educate audiences, but also to engage and recognize local scholars and artists whose work parallels that of the invited national and international performances.
After the Wednesday night Musical Theater Series performance and each dance performance, audiences are invited to join members of the show’s cast, creative team, and dance company members in the Marzitelli Foyer for a 20 minute Q & A “Talk-Back”.
After all the Musical Theater Series and World Music & Dance Series performances, the Marzitelli Foyer Bar will remain open. Stay for an opportunity to meet members of the show’s cast, creative team, musical guests and dance company members.
